Composition
Each 5ml contains: Phenylbutazone BP 1gm
Use
As an aid in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, and soft tissue swelling in horses where anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic activity would be beneficial.
Contra-Indications
Severe cardiac, hepatic or renal disease.
History of blood dyscrasias or gastrointestinal tract ulceration.
Use in conjunction with drug therapy ot within 6 weeks prior to or following therapy with coumarin anticoagulants.
Precautions
Discontinue therapy if signs of lethargy, gastrointestinal tract irritation, inappetence, oral ulceration, or vascular disorders and hypoproteinaemia resulting in ventral abdominal oedema occur during treatment. Adhere strictly to dose rates recommended for ponies and foals, where there is greater risk of toxicity than in the adult horse.
Directions
For best results, give the paste 30 minutes prior to feeding.
Dosage
HORSES
450kg -10ml twice daily on the first day as a loading dose, then 5ml daily for 4 days, then 5ml daily or every alternate day as required.
PONIES
225kg - 5ml daily for 4 days, then 2.5ml daily or every alternate day as required.
Administration
Stir contents before use. Withdraw required dose with syringe supplied. Invert to expel air. Adjust to dose. Insert into side of horse's empty mouth. Direct to back of tongue and depress plunger to deposit paste. Lift horse's chin and hold mouth closed for a few seconds to ensure that full dose is swallowed. Reseal container after use.
Disposal
Dispose of empty syringe by wrapping in paper and placing in garbage.
