Tablets
Chemical Name: CONJUGATED ESTROGENS (ESS-troe-jenz) and MEDROXYPROGESTERONE (me-DROX-ee-proe-JESS-te-rone)

Common uses
This medicine is an estrogen and progesterone combination used to treat the symptoms of menopause. It may also be used to treat certain menstrual disorders, osteoporosis, or other conditions as determined by your doctor. Alternative medicines to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) include raloxifene and bisphosphonate drugs such as alendronate.

Before using
WARNING: Two-drug combination hormone replacement therapy (estrogen and progestin menopause HRT) can infrequently cause breast cancer, heart disease (CHD/MI), stroke, or blood clots in the lung (PE), if used for a long period of time (greater than one year). Therefore, the risks of use of HRT for a long period of time (more than one year) must be discussed with your doctor. Use of two-drug HRT for short periods of time (less than one year) to relieve menopause symptoms may be considered. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking rifampin. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of cancer or pulmonary embolism. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
